Trauma Recovery and PTSD

Sleep Is Not Giving You Rest

Are you physically and mentally exhausted even when you have had a good night’s sleep?

Do you wonder “when will life get easy?”

Lately, have you asked yourself “Why am I crying for no reason?” or “I don’t know if I can keep doing this,” and you are not sure what the “this” is.

You feel like you are in a battle every single day, and angry at the world for no particular reason.

Are You Doing It All, or Nothing?

When someone asks you to do something, you are either the person who does it all, or the one who cannot even begin.

You have said yes to another 12 hour shift and then complained about it, or stopped talking to your partners at work and at home.

The feeling of being overwhelmed keeps cropping up, every day, each day.

You have shut down in ways you never have before.

Some of It Belongs to Your Past

Sometimes our difficulties have everything to do with the trauma in our past.

Have you always been so strong that you kept going, even when you were so tired you wanted to pull the covers over your head and not wake up for days?

Do you snap at people, without the patience you would like, without the compassion you wish others would give to you?

Or afraid of something to the point of avoidance, because it reminds you of a troubling event in your past?

You Will Not Have to Explain It to Me

When I was a nurse in the Intensive Care Units, I witnessed a lot of heartache, a lot of pain, and at times, tragic deaths.

Supervising hospital staff on the weekends took me into the Emergency Room for traumatic injuries, cardiac arrests, and the sudden deaths of babies, children, and adults.

As a witness to trauma, I was traumatized. It is called Vicarious Traumatization.

It hits us harder than we think.

Your Childhood Traumas Are There Too

I took a special interest in trauma during my internship at shelters for mothers and children who were victims of domestic violence, and ran the support groups for victims of sexual assault.

Trauma stays with us.

It finds its way into each and every cell.

Lay Down the Shame You Carry

Processing the trauma, moving it out of our bodies, and laying down the shame we carry is our way of healing.

And you deserve to heal, you deserve to feel safe, to feel okay with who you are.

Trauma happened to you.

But it does not have to define who you are.

I Will Help You

Together we will look at the pain, the shame, and the guilt.

My work is to stay with you while you lay them down.

You do not have to feel ugly anymore.

Do You Want to Feel “Normal” Again?

If you would like to feel “normal” again, like you did before the assault, before the car accident, before the Code Blue on the 2 year old, please call me.

I want you to feel sure I am the right fit for you, because that matters when you choose your therapist.

You deserve a place that is safe and quiet, gently guided, where you can heal.
